A leaked document that has been sent to a number of video game sites offers the first information on the actual story of the upcoming Destiny video game from Bungie, while also giving players a sneak peek at the art style that the title will use.

It seems that Destiny will allow players to explore a future where humanity has managed to explore the stars and briefly colonize a number of planets before it encountered hostile aliens who have used superior technology to force humans back to just one city on Earth, according to the leak.

This last stand is only possible because another alien with a powerful spacecraft protects the city and allows humanity to exist as an organized political entity.

Despite their defeats, humans are still able to travel the stars and explore other worlds and players will take on the role of such an explorer.

Destiny will offer a very social experience that will appeal to a number of separate players, but the game will stop short of being an actual MMO.

The official reaction from Bungie to the leak was to post the image attached to the article on the official site, confirming its authenticity.

The developers also say: “Go ahead. Take a peek. It's alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can't wait to finally show you what we've really been up to. Stick around, we haven't even started yet.”

It seems that some of the information included in the leak is outdated, but Bungie has not pointed out what part gamers should take with a grain of salt.

The art style of Destiny as seen in the concept art is very interesting and seems like a cross between the Dawn of War universe that Relic has brought to the world of video games and the look used for the Star Wars prequels by George Lucas.
