Leah Remini is defecting from Scientology after years of abuse for asking too many questions about leader David Miscavige’s wife Shelly, who has not been seen in public since 2006 or 2007 and is believed to be held prisoner at a Scientology center.

According to Page Six, which cites sources right within the Church of Scientology, Remini has been very curious about Shelly and Miscavige’s methods of ruling over believers, which reportedly imply physical and psychological abuse.

She too has been subject to countless “interrogations” and “thought modification” because she’s shown herself to be too nosey, the report notes.

“It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people. She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion’,” an insider says.

The tipster is referring to the practice of “disconnect” used in Scientology, in which members of the cult are asked to sever all connections with their family if they too are not believers.

For Remini, trouble reportedly began in 2006, at Tom Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes, when she asked out loud of Miscavige where his wife was.

Cruise immediately rushed to admonish her that she did “not have the [expletive]-ing rank to ask about Shelly.”

Now that Remini has left the Church, she is said to be considering going public with her decision.

Ultimately, the Church’s next step will decide if she does that or not.

“[She wants to see] what the church tries to do. She has heard they use people to scare you into silence,” another source reveals.

“She’s from Brooklyn. The church can’t hurt her... they don’t have her family, that’s all that matters to her. It’s not about wanting or not wanting to do Scientology... The issue is that [Miscavige] is taking down this church and hurting people and families,” adds the same spy.
