Everything moves more slowly and costs more to cast

League of Legends developer Riot Games confirms that, for April Fools' Day 2015, it’s revisiting last year's Ultra Rapid Fire prank mode for a New Ultra Rapid Fire one that slows everything down while doubling resources costs.

League of Legends is a massively popular free-to-play online experience, and developer Riot Games hasn't shied away from presenting all sorts of different experimental game modes, such as the recent Nemesis Draft.

Last year for April Fools, the studio presented a small experience called Ultra Rapid Fire mode that drastically reduced resource costs for spells, improved the speed of every champion, and resulted in a much more fast-paced experience. The success was immediate and Riot held the mode on rotation for the whole month.

New Ultra Rapid Fire mode is not that rapid

For April Fools 2015, the studio confirms on its website the New Ultra Rapid Fire mode. However, instead of once again speeding everything up, the new mode slows everything down.

More specifically, there's a 100% increase in mana and energy cost for champion abilities, a 200% cooldown increase on abilities, items, and summoner spells, and a 200% delay between basic attacks. The movement speed has been reduced by 225, while critical strikes happen on more attacks and deal even more damage.

According to Riot Games, this new mode should take the multiplayer online battle arena of League of Legends and transform it more into a turn-based experience, since everyone and everything moves so slowly.

The New Ultra Rapid Fire (NURF) mode is set to go live across the game's servers tomorrow, March 31, and it's unclear whether the studio will actual go through with its prank or it will just bring back Ultra Rapid Fire mode, which was such a hit.

Even so, check out the hilarious presentation video below.
