At the Los Angeles premiere of “New Year's Eve,” in which they play lovers, Lea Michele and Ashton Kutcher got extremely friendly on the red carpet. It could be there's something more between them as, in a recent interview, Lea gushed about her leading man, saying he was “the hottest guy.”

As one can imagine, this only managed to make more wonder about the state of their relationship – and to speculate that Lea might actually be interested in a fling with the handsome, soon to be divorced actor.

NY Mag asked Lea whether she was curious about who producers would cast as her love interest in the romantic comedy now playing on screens all over the world.

She says she was curious, of course, but also adds that her first choice would have been Ashton Kutcher. She never got the courage to ask for him, though.

“I was! [Director] Garry [Marshall] was like, 'Who do you think is cute? What guys do you like? Who do you want to be in this movie with you?'” Lea recalls.

“And I was like, 'I don’t know, I’ve never been asked before!' I didn’t mention Ashton’s name just because, I gotta say, I kinda felt like he was a little out of my league,” she adds.

The star, who made a name for herself on the hit musical series “Glee,” goes on to sing Ashton's praises.

“You know, this guy’s like, the hottest guy, and then when they called and said that Ashton was doing it, I was really freaked out. […] But I’m so glad, because he challenged me, and it was a really great pairing, I think,” she adds.

As we also noted at the time, at the premiere, Lea and Ashton were acting very flirty on the red carpet. Photographers even snapped him looking down her cleavage at one point.

Even with rumors of a new romance, “New Year's Eve” failed to impress audiences: it made only $13 million (€9.86 million) in its opening weekend at the US box office on what analysts name the worst box office weekend in 3 years.
