14 DAY TRIAL // Cory Monteith died of a heroin and alcohol overdose, it was confirmed earlier today. In the wake of the official cause of death announcement, his girlfriend Lea Michele has also released a brief statement through her rep to People magazine.
She is grieving with his family, it says.
“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” the publicist says.
“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family,” adds the statement.
Earlier reports claimed that the two had gotten engaged and were planning the wedding, which, if true, could only add to the immense pain Lea must be feeling right now.
The two starred together on “Glee” and were almost inseparable in real life as well.
