Before Christina Aguilera’s take on the National Anthem at the Super Bowl XLV, Lea Michele of “Glee” put her amazing pipes on display with a rendition of “America the Beautiful” which was greeted with deafening cheering from football fans.

Lea, who is also in the running for a Grammy this year together with her “Glee” co-stars, sang the song with some help from a chorus of navy officials – and did wonderfully.

Though she may cause some controversy with the things she says or for claims that she’s acting like a diva at times, there’s no denying that Lea has quite an amazing set of pipes.

As MTV News also puts it, she delivered perfectly – with some commenters even pointing out on dedicated forums that she fared much better that seasoned performer Christina Aguilera who got her lyrics a bit mixed up.

“The singer and actress, who is nominated for a Grammy alongside her ‘Glee’ castmembers, belted a straightforward version of ‘America the Beautifu’ to help kick off the game (she was followed by Christina Aguilera’s vampy rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’),” MTV writes.

“Sporting a cream-colored coat and camel-hued wide-leg trousers with her brown locks in soft waves, Michele coolly crooned the patriotic standard surrounded by service members in navy suits under the shadow of red, white and blue flags,” the same publication notes.

“The star gently cooed throughout most the performance, but showcased her robust pipes by holding the last note for few seconds,” says MTV.

The performance was rounded up just perfectly by deafening screams and cheering from members of the audience – and justly so, it is being said.

While Lea’s performance hit all the right notes with fans (pun intended), Christina Aguilera and the Black Eyed Peas still have people divided as to what to make of theirs, as we also noted earlier today.

Until the jury comes in on those two, check out Lea Michele’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” below. Enjoy.
