“Glee” actor Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver over the weekend, with various media outlets saying he might have overdosed on drugs. Fresh reports suggest that he and girlfriend Lea Michele had just gotten engaged.

As we also noted earlier today, Michele refused to issue a statement on Cory’s death, though her publicist did, asking for privacy at this difficult time.

According to insiders cited by Christian Post, Lea was making wedding plans because she and Cory had just gotten engaged.

In fact, she and a group of girlfriends were on vacation in Mexico, which also doubled as a bachelorette party to celebrate the engagement.

“It is absolutely tragic. Lea was busy organizing what should have been the happiest day of their lives but now she is planning her worst nightmare, Cory's funeral,” says a spy.

“He meant the world to Lea as she did to him. No one can believe he is gone at such a young age,” another insider adds, saying that Lea is absolutely “devastated.”

Even if they weren’t engaged, one can only imagine her pain: the two had been together for years, through thick and thin, and were closer than ever after Cory completed a 30-day stint in rehab this April.

“I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it’s been like to go through this more than he does,” Lea was telling Marie Claire in an interview late last year, as we also reported at the time.

“Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” she added.
