In March last year, the tabloid media uncovered an affair between “Northern Lights” co-stars
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, both of them married at the time. The two denied the reports the second they emerged, despite obvious evidence, only to keep quiet for a while and then file for divorce so they could be together. In what could be perhaps a first admission of guilt, Rimes has written a song about her ex-husband Dean Sheremet,
Us Magazine says.
The track has no title yet, but Rimes is already performing it in public, premiering it on Monday night at an event within the Sundance Film Festival. The singer has not specifically said that the track was written
with Dean in mind, but the lyrics seem to speak for themselves. In fact, some believe they are so suggestive, they say the track is actually LeAnn’s way of saying she is sorry for breaking her husband’s heart by cheating on him. That, of course, is highly debatable at this point.
“LeAnn Rimes – who famously had an affair with actor Eddie Cibrian while wed to Dean Sheremet – is performing new songs that focus on breaking an ex’s heart. The country crooner, 27, took to the stage Monday at the ASCAP Music Cafe at the Sundance Film Festival, where she debuted one untitled tune. […] The lyrics included: ‘What have I done? I broke the heart of the sweetest man. What have I done? I broke the heart of the only man who’s ever loved me. Who have I become? I hope you find someone new, someone who deserves you’,” Us Magazine writes.
This is, as some of you may remember, also the first publication to
break the story of the Rimes – Cibrian affair. As of now, the only clarification the singer has made as regards new song is what she said before performing it, namely that it’s a song about love that would “make [her] cry.” Since chances are she’ll not be saying anything more about it either, speculation of whether she wrote it by means of an apology to Dean and the heartbreak she caused him with her behavior is fair game, it is being said.
“Though one source tells Us Magazine Rimes penned the tune ‘during the height of the cheating’ and it is ‘100 percent’ about her ex, another insists it ‘was written several years ago before the situation with Dean and the cheating. I can understand how it can be interpreted to be about what happened’,” the aforementioned publication also notes.
