In true celebrity fashion, the marriage of singer and actress LeAnn Rimes with former backup dancer Dean Sheremet is now going through a rough patch – and it does so under the glare of the local and international media. A publicist for the singer has taken the time to deny the allegations surfaced yesterday about Dean’s orientation, saying that there is no cousin Pebbles and the couple does not even know all those “friends” who have recently surfaced.

The people who have phoned in on a Michigan radio station the other day to say that Dean, with whom Rimes has been married since 2002, was not even interested in women to start with and this was just a convenience marriage, are but liars, the rep says. The so-called cousin Pebbles, who spoke of a family bet going on for these past years as to when Dean would come out, does not exist, as neither do all those “friends” from back home who claim to know that the former backup dancer is not into women.

“Although Dean and LeAnn never knew they had a cousin named Pebbles, they are glad to hear that she has come out of the woodwork. Dean and LeAnn are also interested in connecting with their other long lost family members: Fred, Wilma, Barney and Bamm-Bamm. So Pebbles, please let us know if you have spoken to them, too.” reads the statement released by LeAnn’s rep to Us Magazine.

The scandal that began earlier this week and reached a boiling point yesterday has to do with LeAnn Rimes reportedly caught kissing her “Northern Lights” co-star Eddie Cibrian, who is also married and a new dad. Despite the fact that both stars denied any kind of affair the moment the rumor first broke, a US magazine admittedly has a video of the two on a date that would show exactly the contrary.

To make matters only worse, yesterday, several people called the aforementioned radio station to say that they knew first-hand that Dean, LeAnn’s husband, was not straight, which would make their marriage a fake and the singer simply “a beard,” as several celebrity e-zines and blogs rushed to say. Now, with the latest denial from the Rimes camp, the media is waiting for the “friends” and “cousin Pebbles” to respond.
