LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian got their own reality show on VH1, thinking that people would be so interested in seeing them on the small screen, on an unscripted show, that they might also get a second season, while also breaking the bank. So far, no such thing, but at least Eddie must be feeling “more masculine” right now.

The latest report in the print issue of Star magazine (story via CB) claims that LeAnn is letting him pocket all the cash VH1 is giving them in exchange for their agreement to be on camera, and to call it his own.

Eddie hasn’t exactly been drowning in offers for some time, with his popularity taking a huge hit when the cheating scandal broke in the press, when he got busted making out with LeAnn in a diner at a time when both were married to other people.

When they tied the knot in 2011, the number of offers decreased even more, the tabloid argues. Sure, he still makes paid appearances and does a role here and there, but it’s not the kind of work a star he imagines he is would do – and the money isn’t either.

So LeAnn came up with this idea to give him an instant ego boost. She has her music career still going and a dance remix album that’s actually performing pretty well, so she really doesn’t need the money.

But Eddie – and mostly his ego – does.

“She wants Eddie to have money of his own,” a source close to the couple reveals for the publication. “She thinks it’s a good way to boost his self-esteem and make him feel like he doesn’t have to rely on her.”

However, adds another tipster, she should start counting pennies while the show is still on air. “Their show may not last long. It’s been torn apart by critics and the ratings are low,” says the spy.

Rumors claim that LeAnn has considered the possibility of getting pregnant as a certain way of getting producers to give her another season on air. Star says that they could also set up “another cheating scandal” to get more episodes from VH1.

If you think about it, there have been plenty of those to go around these days, and chances are they were set up to boost ratings for such reality shows.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, and Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett made a lot of money by documenting on camera their reconciliation attempts after a very questionable cheating scandal. If push comes to shove, LeAnn and Eddie could also stage one of those and be sure to have audiences tuning in, if only for curiosity.

They should hurry though, just in case this catches on and becomes a trend.
