Judging by the amounts of tweets that go online on her official page, LeAnn Rimes lives and breathes Twitter. However, in a new radio interview, the singer insists she’s only doing this because she has spare time and loves to connect with her fans.

Taking a short break from speaking about her latest album, LeAnn tells 98 Country that she sees in the social networking site a wonderful venue to stay in touch with her millions of fans, as well as to pass the time.

Asked if she’s addicted to Twitter, Rimes is positive that she could live without it if she so desired, Taste of Country informs.

“You know, it’s not that I’m addicted to Twitter, it’s that I have so much dang time on my hands! If you saw how much time I sit on a plane or in a bus or whatever it may be, once I get all of my stuff done for the day, with this wonderful iPhone that we now have it’s so easy to just talk to people,” she explains.

Getting to talk to people she would otherwise never speak to is also why she continues on Twitter, because, thanks to it, she gets to connect with her fans.

“I definitely do tweet a lot, I definitely won’t deny it, but I think a lot of it is answering people back and saying hello and thank you. I see how much they [the fans] appreciate it – it’s instant gratification,” she says.

“Because of Twitter I think my fans and I have had this kind of… I’ve been able to reach my fans in a completely different way. [P]eople really get to know me as a human instead of this tabloid staple that’s just a face,” LeAnn explains.

If she were to give Twitter up for two days in a row, she’d most certainly be ok, she believes.
