Cheating scandal they were involved in is “funny” to them now, LeAnn explains

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian’s VH1 reality show tanked but they’re still hoping they might get a second season or at least save face from the debacle, so they’re still promoting it. The other day, they did an interview with Joan Rivers for her YouTube In Bed with Joan segment.

You can find the entire episode embedded in full and in HD below. *Please note that some discretion is recommended because the video contains several instances of language that might offend.

However, the thing that people are most offended about is the fact that LeAnn chooses to make a very inspired rape joke during the interview, while also laughing about the cheating scandal she and Eddie were involved in in the early stages of the romance, calling it “funny.”

The rape joke came about as LeAnn was talking about the first man she slept with, when she was 15 or 16 and one of the hottest stars on the country music scene, having already won a Grammy and believing, as per her own words, that she was on the top of the world.

“I was in Monte Carlo, I was… 16,” LeAnn says. “He was my boyfriend for like three and a half years. He was fine. I think I raped him. I think that's how it happened,” she adds.

Even if she was the one to insist they have relations, no one should ever make jokes about rape on camera, whether on television or YouTube shows, angry voices are saying right now. However, neither Eddie nor Joan seemed to take offense with the out of place comment, but then again, even if Joan had, no one would have been able to tell. Her face is as unmovable as a mask and it’s quite a sight to behold, to tell the truth.

In the same interview, LeAnn and Eddie explain that their VH1 reality series isn’t really that, but rather a satire piece that’s meant to show audiences how they normally react in such situations. They seem to be saying that the stories included in each episode may or may not be true, but their reactions are, because this is how they’d react in such a context.

As for the cheating scandal that broke when they were caught making out in a diner at a time when both were married to other people, LeAnn says you’re supposed to see the fun side of life.

“That's the great thing about us. We laugh at ourselves,” she explains. “I'll make the joke first because I don't anyone to make it about me. I'll laugh at myself, laugh with me, laugh at me, as long as you're laughing I'm doing something. Everybody knows a scandal and it becomes funny eventually.”

The scandal might be funny to her now, but at the time, it ended two marriages: she and Dean Sheremet got divorced, as also did Eddie and Brandi Glanville. Eddie and Brandi have 2 children together, so these were caught in the middle of everything.
