After months of speculation on her health, LeAnn Rimes is finally setting the record straight on what sent her to “rehab” in August, in a brand new interview with Katie Couric which will air in full on Friday.

A preview for it has been released and you can find it below, embedded at the end of this video.

Couric asks LeAnn about the reason that prompted her to seek help, mentioning just two of the explanations circulated in the press at the time: an eating disorder and a drug addiction.

“People look at you and go, 'Why are you struggling?' No one can quite understand why you hurt so badly,” LeAnn responds, not quite saying anything but hinting that her problem was just as serious as the two mentioned above.

If her words are not enough to convince viewers at home, her tears certainly will: LeAnn gets emotional and then fights back tears, saying something along the lines of, “no, I’m not going to cry over this.”

In the same interview, LeAnn talks about her expectations post-rehab and how she feels like she’s gotten a clean slate now that she received the help she needed.

“I feel like I am starting over even though I’ve had all these years behind me. How many people get to [start] over again in this day and age?” she says.

For those who did not keep up with the singer, in August this year, her rep announced she’d be seeking help for “stress and anxiety.”

In later interviews or in LeAnn’s new statements on Twitter, it became clear that she wasn’t really in rehab but getting counseling at a “spa” (of sorts), from where she could leave anytime she wanted.

She also said her “stress and anxiety” were caused by bullying on Twitter and the negative media attention she’d been getting for her marriage to Eddie Cibrian, who was married at the time they started dating.

Oddly enough, now that she’s out of treatment, she’s back on Twitter and as active as ever.
