Lava Iris Win 1 is far from being as popular as a Lumia smartphone, but that did not seem to stop the Indian company from offering the latest Windows Phone update for this handset.

Those that decided to go for Lava's Iris Win 1 instead of another affordable smartphone launched by Microsoft or its other partners, will be pleased to know that Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 is now available for download for these devices, WMPU reports.

This is the third smartphone that gets Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 in the last couple of days, after HTC One M8 for Windows and BLU Win HD LTE.

Even though Microsoft was a bit scarce on information about Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, it looks like in the end there will be a lot of smartphones to get this upgrade.

For the time being, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are the only smartphones that ship with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 onboard, but if Microsoft launches other devices until Windows 10 Mobile gets released, then there's a high chance they will run the same version of the operating system.

Apparently, that's going to happen with Verizon Lumia 735, which is expected to arrive at the US-based carrier in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, some Lumia handsets will begin getting this update too

Anyway, Lava Iris Win 1 owners may want to check out their smartphones for Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 upgrade, which is now rolling out OTA (over the air) in waves.

The update should bring a few new features and improvements, especially when it comes to connectivity options. Bluetooth HID, MKV video support, and some tweaking to Settings menu are among the most important enhancements included in this update.

It's clear that Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 will arrive on other smartphones, but for now it looks like Lumia series is not targeted to receive the upgrade.
