Indian company Lava has just introduced three new Android smartphones on the market, which are priced below Rs 4,000 ($75/€55) outright.

Given their low price, customers should not get their hopes too high when it comes to specs. All three Lava smartphones are powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system out of the box and are likely to be stuck on this version forever.

In fact, except design, Iris 349, Iris 351 and Iris 355 are pretty much similar. As AndroidOS points out, each smartphone is equipped with a 1GHz single-core processor and offers dual-SIM capability.

“In our mission to empower people, we believe that everyone deserves to own a smartphone. Hence, we at Lava have worked hard to come up with entry level phones that will be easy on the customers’ wallet yet provide a superior smartphone experience,” said the company's spokesperson.

On the inside, the smartphones pack 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

They sport 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen displays that support 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 2-megapixel rear photo snappers.

Aside from Lava Iris 351, which packs a 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery, the rest of the smartphones are powered by 1400 mAh Li-Ion batteries.

Other highlights of the phones include: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio with recording, GPS with A-GPS support and VGA front-facing camera (except Lava Iris 351). It is also worth mentioning that Lava Iris 355 offers 3G connectivity as well.

All three smartphones come pre-loaded with some applications and services, such as Cricket Fever, Lava Zone, and Ninja Rush.

For the time being, only Lava Iris 351 is available for purchase for Rs 3,799 ($70/€55) outright, but Iris 349 and Iris 355 are expected to arrive on the market soon for prices below Rs 4,000 ($75/€55).
