Singer Lauryn Hill got the reprieve in court she’s been asking for: scheduled for sentencing on failure to pay taxes just hours ago, she was told she would get another 2 weeks before that, so she could pay her debt to the IRS.

Video of Lauryn walking out of the courthouse is embedded below: though she seems happy with having her sentencing delayed, she’s keeping mum on the topic.

However, TMZ reports that her attorney provided the judge with proof that she would pay her tax debt, which amounts to almost $1 million (€766,518).

“Hill's attorney said the singer recently signed a million-dollar recording deal with Sony... she was also planning to take out a $650,000 [€498,236] loan to put toward the bill,” the e-zine says.

The singer pled guilty to tax evasion and could face years in prison. TMZ says her attorney is still hoping she’d get only probation instead.
