Lauryn Hill was sentenced to 3 months in prison for tax evasion and, despite repeated attempts to have the sentence changed or altogether lifted, she was unsuccessful. At the beginning of the week, she reported to prison to start it, it has emerged.

TMZ has all the details about the singer’s “check in” into the Federal Correctional Institute in Connecticut.

“The former Fugees singer was booked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury at 11:15 AM EST. We're told the FCI is a ‘minimum security type facility’ where inmates live in ‘barracks type’ housing,” the celebrity publication writes.

Unlike other celebrities who got lots of media attention for the prison sentencea they got and how they were carried out, Hill won’t be in solitary confinement or some VIP-type of cell.

If you remember, this is how Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan did time for their DUIs. They still described the experience as a genuine “ordeal” though.

“We're also told 38-year-old Hill will not be isolated in the facility – and will be housed with the general population,” TMZ says.

In a separate post, the same media outlet boasts of learning the menu Lauryn will be getting for the duration of her stay. Compared to other prisons, she’ll be getting the star treatment.

“When Lauryn checked into Federal Correctional Institute in Connecticut on Monday to serve her 3-month sentence for tax evasion, she was served up with some tasty BBQ pulled pork with a side of carrots, peas and sweet potatoes. To wash it down: she was able to choose from an array of juices or milk,” TMZ writes.

As for the kind of work she’s supposed to do for 3 months until she gets out, it’s not of the back breaking variety.

“Hill will do menial work like cleaning the grounds, educational department help, yard work, or working in the religious services department,” says the same media outlet.
