The first mobile devices running under Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system are expected to arrive on shelves on October 21st, sources familiar with the matter confirmed.

Previous rumors on this area suggested the first Windows Phone 7 devices are set to arrive on the European market on that day, at it seems that little doubt on this is left.

However, the launch of these devices has been confirmed only for the market in Spain for the time being, though there are great chances that things will happen the same way for other European countries too.

According to a recent article on Pocket-lint, the info on Microsoft's plans regarding the launch of Windows Phone 7 on the Spanish market comes from elEconomista.es, a Spanish financial website.

It appears that the official global launch of Microsoft's new mobile OS will take place on October 11th, just as rumored before, and that wireless carriers Vodafone, Orange and MoviStar are set to add Windows Phone 7 devices to their offerings starting with October 21st.

Moreover, the news site claims that these mobile phones would come from companies like LG, HTC, and Samsung, while adding that Dell and Toshiba are expected to launch their own devices soon after that.

Further info on the launch of Windows Phone 7 devices comes from a recent article on Neowin, which claims that more, specific markets are expected to get their share of Microsoft's new OS on that day.

They claim that October 21st would bring the said devices to markets like the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, and that there is little chance that Microsoft would change this state of facts in the near future.

Of course, there still is a wide range of details unknown for the time being, including price tags, availability in other markets, or carrier branding for the upcoming Windows Phone 7, but more info should become available in the near future.
