As far as virtualization capabilities are concerned, VirtualBox is one of the best tools out there. But it lacks some functions that would make it easier to use, such as the possibility to launch a virtual machine without having to load up the entire application.

Luckily, there is a nifty script from Nic Bedford that covers this annoyance: VBox Launch. You can infer from the name that its purpose is to help you launch VirtualBox machines in an easier manner.

Taking advantage of this script is not a difficult task. Just copy its executable to VirtualBox installation folder and create a shortcut for it. Next, drag VBox launch shortcut to Windows Start menu, and that’s all.

You should be able to launch any of the virtual machines from the Start Menu, just like in the case of Microsoft’s Virtual PC, or you can pin the shortcut to the taskbar and launch the virtual copies from the jumplist.
