We suppose the auction on eBay should have been enough of a hint that Advanced Micro Devices would soon be releasing the dual-GPU Radeon HD 7990 graphics adapter.

Cards with two Tahiti GPUs have been around since last year, but they are few and made by AMD's partners.

Malta will be the reference dual-chip member of the HD 7000 series, hence all the fuss.

According to a report by OCaholic.ch, the board will be officially released on April 24, 2013. That's precisely seven days from now.

Spec-wise, Radeon HD 7990 will have 4,096 Stream Processors, 6 GB GDDR5 memory, and two 384-bit interfaces (3 GB per GPU).

Two 8-pin PCI Express power connectors provide the needed energy, while a dual-slot, triple-fan cooler handles the heat. Sadly, we still don't have a price to impart.
