The Manjaro development team, through Philip Müller, has informed all Manjaro Linux users about the immediate availability of a new update for the stable Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 operating system based on Arch Linux.

Manjaro Update 2015-05-17 is the ninth update for Manjaro Linux 0.8.12, and it introduces new kernels (see below for supported Linux kernel packages), the latest GNOME 3.16.2 desktop environment, as well as the recently released KDE Applications 15.04.1 software suite for the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

Additionally, the new stable update for Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 includes the latest LibreOffice 4.4.3 and Calligra 2.9.4 office suites, Oracle VirtualBox 4.3.28, Steam for Linux client 1.0.0.50, and the Qt 5.4.1 GUI toolkit.

"We are happy to announce our ninth update for Manjaro 0.8.12," says Philip Müller. "We are getting really close to our next stable release. [...] Please give us feedback and report any findings with this update."

Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 RC1 has been released today as well

The Linux kernels supported in Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 are Linux kernel 4.0.3, Linux kernel 3.19.8, Linux kernel 3.18.13, Linux kernel 3.16.7.11, Linux kernel 3.14.42 LTS, Linux kernel 3.13.11.20, Linux kernel 3.12.42 LTS, and Linux kernel 3.10.78 LTS.

As expected, this update includes all the standard security patches and software updates from the upstream Arch Linux software repositories as of May 17, 2015. All Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 users are urged to upgrade their systems as soon as possible, in order to receive the new features mentioned above.

In related news, the Manjaro Linux development team has also released today the first Release Candidate (RC) version for the forthcoming Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 computer operating system, for which we wrote a separate article.
