From breast implants to vaginaplasty, a woman can completely reshape her body nowadays. And if hair implant is used against baldness, why not having eyelash and eyebrow implants?

"Have you ever wished you had long, voluptuous eyelashes and perfectly full eyebrows? Well now you can achieve both with a revolutionary hair transplant procedure", said Dr. Mikel Lo, an expert in ophthalmic plastic and facial cosmetic surgery, one of Tucson, Arizona's leading cosmetic surgeons and one of a few qualified doctors in the US who now performs both transplant types.

This is a procedure that cannot be done by any doctor, requiring special training and a high level of expertise. When it is done by a highly qualified physician, the results can be awesome.

Some cases require this surgery for medical reasons: alopecia areata (a type of hair loss from areas of the body), after chemotherapy or radiation therapy, in case of congenital inability to grow eyebrows or eyelashes, physical trauma such as accidents or burns, disease (local or systematic), plucking which can lead to permanent loss of eyebrows or patchy aspects. But most cases will be for fashion reasons, women wanting to look like their favorite stars.

Like in the case of normal hair transplant, hair is taken from the back of the scalp. Individual hair follicles will be inserted into either the eyelashes or eyebrows. On average, 20-30 hair follicles are necessary for each of the upper eyelashes.

The procedure is realized under a local anesthesia and each procedure can be done by itself or combined.

Like in the case of normal hair transplant, the hair follicles will grow in a natural cycle of 3-4 weeks after being transplanted, then they will fall out and after a pause of 6-8 weeks, the hair follicles will reactivate themselves and start a new active phase: the transplanted eyelashes will reappear.

The transplanted hair follicles will grow like that at the back of the scalp, that's why periodic eyelash trimming and/or curling will be necessary for a natural look.

The eyebrow transplant requires about 200-400 hair follicles for each eyebrow. The surgeon must be careful with the growth direction and angle of the eyebrow hairs to obtain natural-looking eyebrows.
