This version of Calibre is quite interesting

The Calibre eBook reader, editor, and library management software has just reached version 2.13 and the developer has added an important driver and made quite a few fixes and improvements.

Many users don't know that Calibre can be used not only as an ereader or eBook converter but also to manage the library collection on the host computer or in the storage of the devices.

That includes basically anything that comes with a display and the ability to load eBooks, like phones, tablets, and ereaders. That is possible by integrating driver support in the application itself, which is not an easy task.

Today's update is a surprising one because we thought that we'd have to wait until all the holidays were over in order to get a new version. It looks like there were some things that really needed an update and that included support for a new device and improvements for others.

The latest Calibre version is an interesting update

Very few Calibre updates have been small and not worth the trouble of upgrading the application, but this latest one is not among them. It doesn't have anything big really standing out, but most of the stuff that's been fixed or improved should prove to be very useful for many users.

"Today calibre is a vibrant open-source community with half a dozen developers and many, many testers and bug reporters. It is used in over 200 countries and has been translated into a dozen different languages by volunteers. calibre has become a comprehensive tool for the management of digital texts, allowing you to do whatever you could possibly imagine with your e-book library," reads the official announcement.

The developers have also explained that a new driver has been added for the CYBOOK MUSE e-Book reader, users can now download a cover for eBooks from metadata with just a right-click, the latest Kobo firmware is now supported by Calibre, the editing function of the application has been improved, quite a few regressions have been corrected, some small fixes have been integrated, and a few news sources have been updated as well.

You can also check out our review of Calibre and download Calibre 2.13 from Softpedia, but keep in mind that this is just the source. You can compile the application if you really want to, but it needs many dependencies and updates are being launched almost every week. It's simpler to just use the installation script available on the official website.
