Screen goddess Marilyn Monroe did it, and Dame Elizabeth Taylor did it: ditched the wax in favor of a razor to eliminate unwanted facial hair. Beauticians are now witnessing a boost in popularity of the beauty trick that is meant to make women picture perfect.

As the Daily Mail puts it, now that high definition cameras can spot even the smallest imperfection that is perhaps not even visible to the naked eye, female stars can’t afford to have fuzz on their face.

Threading, waxing and, of course, the much more convenient option of laser removal, are very popular, but they only work when it comes to hair – not fuzz.

So, more and more women are turning to the ever-reliable razor for a smooth skin for a red carpet appearance, shaving before heading out.

This way, they’re certain to look their best when the cameras start snapping.

“Shaving rids the face of that fine fuzz that laser hair removal can’t pick up,” Kate Somerville, a facialist to the stars (she doesn’t say who these are), explains for the British publication.

Any woman’s first thought upon reading this is, yes, but won’t shaving make us grow a beard? Apparently, not, the same facialist assures us: that is just a myth.

Of course, it’s best perhaps to make shaving a last resort type of thing.

“It doesn’t grow back thicker or darker. That’s an old wives’ tale. Hair growth changes because of hormonal fluctuations,” she says for the same publication.

Dermatologist Dr. Michael Prager underlines that there are countless more advantages to shaving than just the elimination of facial fuzz.

“The shaved area of a man’s skin is younger-looking than the rest of his face because of the constant exfoliation, which stimulates collagen. Plus, a fuzz-free face reflects the light,” he says for the Mail.

In other words, shaving will make our face both fuzz-free and better looking because it will be getting more exfoliation.
