Windows Vista hit the shelves on January 30, 2007, with one of the major issues surrounding the operating system being the lack of support. Recently, Eugene Kaspersky, the head of virus
research at Kaspersky Lab revealed that the operating system will suffer in terms of protection due to the fact that the security industry is not fully ready for Windows Vista.

At over three months since the general availability of the operating system, some late blooming security solutions for Windows Vista are still waiting for beta testers. This is the case of CA Protection Suite r3.1 Beta. "CA Protection Suites r3.1 (is) designed to meet the unique needs of small- and medium-sized businesses, CA Protection Suites provide cost-effective, easy-to-manage solutions that help ensure your IT assets are secure and available, enabling you to focus on running and growing your business. CA Protection Suites provide comprehensive data protection for your critical IT assets, combining security, backup and desktop migration capabilities into integrated solutions that help minimize risks, prevent downtime, and reduce IT management costs."

But while the client component of CA Protection Suite r3.1 is supported on Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000, CA Protection Suites r3 Server does not support Vista as server within Desktop Protection Suite. CA Protection Suites r3 Server is limited to Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Small Business Server Standard and Premium. No word whatsoever on the Windows Server 2007, codename Longhorn that is currently in Beta 3 stage.

If you are interested in test driving CA Protection Suite r3.1 Beta for Windows Vista, then head over here and give it a try.
