Neil Druckmann, the developer who wrote the script for The Last of Us, says that the movie based on the video game will follow the exact same story line, although some small adaptations might be made in order to meet the requirements of the new medium.

IGN quotes him as explaining that, “As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”

It’s unclear whether those who have played The Last of Us will be interested in simply seeing the exact same events play out on the big screen.

Developer Naughty Dog has managed to pick up another set of awards for the title at the BAFTA awards and The Last of Us is widely seen as the best title to have been launched in 2013.

Another downloadable content pack for it is supposed to be launched this year, introducing more multiplayer modes.

The first DLC, called Left Behind, was delivered on the PlayStation 3 on February 14.

Naughty Dog has confirmed that it is brainstorming some ideas for a sequel, but an official announcement will not be made anytime soon.
