German authorities apprehended a suspect that is believed to be the operator behind many movie streaming link portals including the infamous Kino.to which was taken down sometime in June.

According to TorrentFreak, Tim C. is considered to be the last suspect in the pirate organization that ran illegal file-hosting and steaming sites such as Duckload.com.

The authorities managed to shut down most of the rogue locations at the time of the arrests but since one suspect escaped, he managed to keep the services going by changing their names.

The Dresden Attorney General's Office reported that Tim C was arrested for his connections to Kino.to but also Video2k.tv, a portal launched by the suspect after the former website was shut down.

When Duckload was taken down, the authorities managed to confiscate 400 servers that were worth a couple of million dollars, but the one that got away at the time had no trouble setting up new similar services that turned out to be just as successful.

Other reports link the same pirate to the Kinoo.to site, a clone of Video2k.tv, that was released not long ago. Both the locations went offline after the fugitive was taken into custody.

The same source reveals that even though the authorities consider this case as good as closed with the arrest of the last suspect, other websites that are allegedly in connection with the famous movie lockers are still online and in business.

When accessing Kino.to we are welcomed by a message that alerts us the domain was shut down due to the fact that it was involved in commercial copyright infringement but, if we look up Kinox.to, the website is running and constantly updated.

It's clear that authorities managed to make a great step forward in the battle against piracy by taking down one of the major piracy rings, but it's also clear that the phenomenon will not go away over night.
