Developer James Hoover has rolled out the last PowerPC-compatible version of Bean, the simple – yet powerful – word processor for Mac OS X.

There’s basically only one major change in Bean 3.1.1 – the jewel buttons and Add Document button in tab bar are now resolution-independent, according to Hoover.

The developer urges users to note that this is the last version of Bean that works on the old PowerPC processor architecture (i.e. iMac G4, iMac G5). “As such, Bean version 3.1.1 will remain available for download at the Bean website (www.bean-osx.com) for those with PowerPC macs,” the developer confirms.

A couple of bug fixes also made their way into this release, such as a correction for single document windows opening to a small, unusable size, and the ‘full format’ date item added in 3.1.0 which inadvertently included time.
