Last minute rumors claim Apple is introducing a new Apple TV today, alongside a fourth-generation iPod touch, while none of the two products are slated to ship immediately.

According to various reports, tweets authored Australian MacWorld reveal that an Apple TV bearing the alleged product code USA MC572 LL/A is being released at today’s event hosted by Apple in a renowned venue in San Francisco.

Apple will introduce a fourth-generation iPod touch as well, the tweets said. Labeled as "definitely coming," the new iTouch is also slated for later shipping, the source said, according to AppleInsider.

iLounge has also been able to obtain  “a handful of details” from two “solid sources” relating to a fourth-generation iPod touch.

(Surprisingly, none of these reports mention anything about the sixth-generation iPod nano we’ve been hearing so much about lately).

The site believes the following details (regarding iPod touch 4) to be accurate:

- The Sleep/Wake button has shifted from the top left of the device over to the top right, mimicing [sic] its placement on the iPhone family.

- The camera is below the Sleep/Wake button, with a microphone pinhole off to its right.

- Volume buttons appear to be separate from one another rather than one piece, but stay in the same general position as in the second- and third-generation iPod touch models, as do the Dock Connector port and headphone port on bottom.

The new player is expected to be slimmer than the second- and third-generation iPod touch models, with the rear casing boasting lid-like corners, akin to the design of an Apple MacBook Pro.

Moreover, the center reportedly does not bulge, allowing the iPod to rest flat on a table, much like the original version of the player.

The rear shell, which wraps around to surround the front glass on current-generation models, is allegedly gone on the new iPod touch.

Finally - this rumor being labeled as less likely to be confirmed by Apple - iPod touch 4 is getting a 3G (wireless) option.

The device will reportedly feature a micro SIM slot like the 3G iPad, as well as a built-in VoIP (Voice over IP) phone application for voice calling and FaceTime support.

With Apple’s event just one hour away, we’ll soon be able to confirm the accuracy of these claims.
