Australian gadget manufacturer Laser also introduced this week the MID 742 7-inch eTouch and MID 1040 10-inch eTouch tablets, thus complementing its slate portfolio.

The first device is aimed at budget conscious customers who want to grab a slate to fulfill some basic needs. The MID 742 offers a 7-inch LCD TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480.

It’s powered by a 1.2GHz processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. 4GB of internal storage is also present, with the possibility of expanding to 32GB via the microSD.

The manufacturer recommends a retail price of $129.95 / $121 / €90, but Big W customers can get theirs cheaper for only $98 / $92 / €68.

As for the MID 1040, the company advertises it mostly for its GPS maps capabilities. The slate ships with Nokia Here Maps bundled up.

The slate features a larger 10.1-inch LCD TFT screen with a front camera. It has a 1.6GHz dual-core processor inside and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. An extra feat would be the G-Sensor for Auto Rotation.

The MID1040 price has been set at $199.95 / $182 / €138, and you can grab yours now if you’re looking for a GPS companion.
