While negotiations for the new “Dallas” are still underway, veteran actor Larry Hagman is preparing to make his comeback to the small screen with a minor role in the successful “Desperate Housewives.”

Monsters And Critics reports that the actor will only appear in one episode of the successful of the US show, where he’ll play the love interest of Stella Wingfield.

“Hagman, 79, will play the boyfriend of Stella Wingfield, played by Polly Bergen, who is the mother of Lynette – Felicity Huffman – on the US TV drama,” M&C says.

Speaking with the US media, the actor has revealed that preparation for the role also includes getting up to date with the events on Wisteria Lane, since he has no idea what the show is all about.

Given the popularity of “Desperate Housewives,” he may be one of the few never to have seen a single episode – but Hagman does have a very decent excuse for it: he doesn’t watch TV.

“I just decided and am going to shoot next week. I can watch a hundred episodes on my iPad,” the actor said in a recent interview cited by M&C.

“I never watch television, so I better get started so I can see what the show’s all about,” Hagman added in the same interview. With shooting scheduled for next week, he doesn’t really have that much time left.

Approximately one month ago, Hagman also dished the first details on the upcoming “Dallas” continuation that is being planned by TNT, saying negotiations were still going for him to reprise his iconic part.

“I read the script and liked it. A lot of it is exposition to explain what’s happened since we went off in the ‘90s. Miss Ellie’s passed on and such. But they haven’t made a firm offer yet,” he said at the time.

“We’re kicking ideas around, but nothing’s been struck in gold. We’ll see how it goes; I’m still ambivalent about it,” Hagman added.

Patrick Duffy was also approached to reprise his part on what was once the most successful soap opera.
