Larry Brown, NBA legend and coach of the New York Knicks, had to be hospitalized Tuesday night in Cleveland. In the third quarter of the game, when his team played against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown suddenly became ill. He was taken from Quiken Loans Arena straight to the hospital, needing oxygen tubes to remain stable.
Knicks spokesman, Jonathan Supranowitz, said that Cavaliers
team doctor examined Brown and decided to send him to the hospital for further observation, since the symptoms "came" so quickly.
During his hospital examinations, New York officials checked with him from time to time, to make sure everything was ok. Cavalier's coach, Mike Brown, and general manager, Danny Ferry, also stopped by the hospital after the game.
Larry Brown had many health issues lately. In February, he was taken to a Memphis hospital with chest pains. Last year, while coaching the Detroit Pistons, Brown had to miss 17 matches because of a hip operation. This led again to a bladder problem that required a new surgery in November. He is still having bladder problems, but said he waits the end of the season to take care of it completely.
The Knicks lost eventually, 91-87, even if Cleveland main contender, LeBron James, missed his first game of the season due to an ankle injury.
