Since the hit TV series “Saved by the Bell” wrapped, Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turle, has slipped off the radar. She emerged earlier this year, grabbing headlines for a very weird interview that prompted speculation of drug use. She’s denying it now.

Lark has been living with her mother and is keeping afloat financially by doing small-budget films, recording music, and writing and publishing her own books.

Earlier this year, she sat down with Yahoo! to talk about her new music, and managed instead to get people gossiping about a possible drug addiction and too much love of plastic surgery.

Neither applies in her case, she and her mother say in a series of interviews with People magazine.

The only explanation for her erratic behavior is that Lark is suffering from severe bipolar disorder, for which she’s refusing all kinds of treatment by saying no doctor knows how to really cure it.

“There are things that have traumatized her. I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life,” Tricia, Lark’s mother, says for the celebrity publication.

She believes Lark is also suffering because she’s seen her career take such a nosedive.

“She’s trying so hard. She says she’s delayed, but she’s going to get there. She feels whatever challenges he has, she can handle herself,” Tricia adds.

Lark, on the other hand, denies there’s anything wrong with her, stating that her mother is overprotective and, as such, prone to certain exaggerations.

“Oh no. We’re alive in a major time of all-in-all prophecy. I have a strong spiritual sense. You caught me in moments of pray,” the actress says.

Later, she admits that she is knowingly refusing psychiatric help because doctors wouldn’t know what to do with her if she started seeing them.

“They don’t explain it. They can’t treat it. They don’t know about it,” she says.
