The New Century Global Center was built in the Tianfu New Area in Chengdu, China

China is now the home to the largest modern building in the world, with the opening of the New Century Global Center.

The multi-purpose complex is 1.7 million square meters (170 hectares) large, or 100 meters (328 feet) high, 500 meters (1,640 feet) long and 400 meters (1,320 feet) wide.

It has been built in the Tianfu New Area in Chengdu, China. According to Gizmodo, it serves as a mall, with shops, an IMAX cinema and restaurants.

In addition to that, it includes a replica of a Mediterranean village and an indoors artificial beach. The visuals are recreated with the use of large LCD screens.

It will also feature an art center, designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid. The center will be 500,000 square feet large (46,451 square meters).
