Fisherman Otwin Kandolf has reeled in the largest brown trout ever captured in New Zealand, a 42 pound, 1 ounce (19.1 kg) monster.

According to Grind TV, the fish is 36.6 inches (93 cm) long and 10.6 inches (27 cm) wide, which makes it unusually chubby. It was caught near a salmon farm and must have had access to pellets floating downstream from the farm.

Outdoor Life reports that the capture should get Kandolf a world record. The current International Game Fish Association record title is currently held by Roger Hellen for bringing in a 41 pound, 8 ounce (18.9 kg) trout in Lake Michigan in 2010.

Kandolf is yet to submit his entry to IGFA, but I will keep you informed if he is granted the world record title.
