After seeing the humongous 3D printer that is 4 meters tall, hearing that a 3D printer is labeled “large format” will always spark some degree of amusement. Nonetheless, that is the sort of 3D printer that has just shown up on Kickstarter.

You see, many projects are thought up by people who lack the finances necessary to market their inventions.

To make it easier for them, sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo exist, where people from around the world can pledge monetary support in exchange for being the first to get the item shipped to their homes.

Kickstarter is now hosting the X Force large-format 3D printer, which originates from Australia and has a build volume of 310 x 210 x 360 mm / 12.20 x 8.26 x 22.04 inches.

On that note, the full printer measures 450 x 360 x 560 mm / 17.71 x 14.17 x 22.04 inches and weighs 25 kilos / 55.11 pounds.

The X Force can print layer with a speed of 3000 mm/minute (X/Y axis speed) and 200 mm/min (Z-Axis) from 1.75 or 3 mm filament. A 0.4 mm nozzle is used, and the layer thickness can be of 0.04 to 0.2 mm. As for supported materials, they are ABS, PLA and Nylon.

The X Force 3D printer has a price of $1,800 AUD, which is just a bit less than $1,700 (€1250). It's cheaper than MakerBot replicators, as certain people pointed out, which is always a plus.
