Square Enix has confirmed that PC owners can now play for free Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light via its CoreOnline web service.

CoreOnline is Square Enix’s attempt at revamping web-based gaming, as it allows users to experience HD games either for free, after watching ads and special videos, or pay for certain levels in different games.

After launching CoreOnline this summer with playable versions of Hitman: Blood Money or Mini Ninjas, Square Enix has now released Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on the service.

Other big games will soon join existing ones, including Tomb Raider: Underworld or Gyromancer.

The service can be accessed via all sorts of web browsers and game saves, as well as achievements, are all stored in the cloud, so you can pick up where you left off anywhere you are.
