Lara Croft's 10th Birthday, Tomb Raider: Anniversary Soon

Seems like just yesterday I was playing the first game in the Tomb Raider series, Tomb Raider :Featuring Lara Croft. But that was back in 1996 and many things have changed including the actress playing Lara.

At first, I thought that Lara was some sort of Indiana Jones but I soon realized that she was much more than that. During the seven installments released over the year, we were able to see Lara evolve and grow. But now, the time has come for Lara to celebrate her 10th anniversary.

With this special occasion, Eidos has decided to develop a new Tomb Raider game, entitled Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary (how original). The game is set to be launched sometime in 2007 for the PS2, PlayStation Portable and PC.

The Tomb Raider franchise has become a powerful one, as many have chased in on its success. Movies, comic books and of course video games have been developed based on the franchise. Even the Guinness Book of World Records gave a special award to Lara Croft as they named her the "Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine".

Even Hollywood wanted a piece of the Tomb Raider franchise as two movies based on the video game were made. These movies both starred Angelina Jolie and were called Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
