It looks like February, at least, brought somewhat better tidings

Analysts and IT companies had some expectations in regards to the notebook industry for the first quarter of 2012, but those expectations have been surpassed, or will be.

Granted, not by much, but a better outcome is always, well, better.

Anyway, Acer and ASUS experienced particularly good sales in February and continue to do so even now.

That isn't going to prevent the sequential shipment drop for Acer or the revenue decline for ASUS, but still.

In fact, shipments and sales will drop for pretty much everyone involved. This is the slow, post-holiday season after all.

Nevertheless, the downturn won't be as bad as people feared, which means that things are looking up, unlike on the DRAM market, where things are so bad that, among other things, a major supplier went bankrupt.

As it often happens, Digitimes reported on this matter, since most makers of mobile PCs are based in Taiwan.
