Lantronix, a Californian secure communication technologies manufacturer, released version 6.9.0.2. of the XPort-05 firmware. This update is the first release for the XPort-05 module with 6 byte MAC address and new firmware ID X9.

The manufacturer provided a heads-up to those who own the XPort-04, that this firmware is not compatible with that model. Even more, the XPort-04 is being phased out and replaced by the XPort-05.

A change worth noting is the TX Power level which has been reduced for Japan only, from 14 dBm to 13 dBm.

The Lantronix XPort-05 is a compact, integrated solution to web enable virtually any device with serial capability. The device, which is the size of your thumb, incorporates all of the required hardware and software inside a single embedded Ethernet solution.

Examples of product applications that can benefit from the XPort-05 include remote diagnostics and upgrades, asset tracking and replenishment, automation and control or remote collaboration.
