Lane Goodman passed away on Wednesday, at 7:53 pm, in McLean county, Kentucky. The 13-year-old had long struggled with a rare form of cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, and had recently entered stage four in the development of the cancer.

Lane had tumors grow along his muscles and spread throughout his trunk, before reaching his lungs and, eventually, his brain. According to the Courier Journal, he was diagnosed just two years ago, and used to be an active child, playing soccer and baseball, before this.

Angie Goodwin, the little boy's mother, had set up a Facebook page for keeping friends and family informed about developments in Lane's condition.

”At 7:53 pm our sweet Lane gained his Angel wings. Our hearts are broken but God has performed a World Wide Miracle through Lane over the past few weeks. Please continue to pray for our family especially Lane's little brother Landen,” she wrote on Wednesday.

She plans to use the “Prayers for Lane Goodwin” Facebook page to raise awareness about the rare condition and raise funds to help stop it. As she posted a “Thumbs Up for Lane” event, many joined in the fight, including sports players, politicians and celebrities.

As Lane's fight was coming to an end, the page received thousands of likes, reaching 385,000 after his passing.

Mrs. Goodman announced she would be streaming today's memorial service live, so that the whole world can show its support.

“A lot of you have followed us on this Journey for the past 2 1/2 years & others have joined this past month. In order for everyone to be apart of the service there will be a live stream over the Internet of the service. The link will be posted here on Lane's page. We will also be posting ways you can honor Lane later this evening,” she posted.
