Floyd Landis was not at all shocked by the B Sample result on Saturday. On the contrary, the American expected the second drug test to have the same result as the first one. He hired Howard L Jacobs - a lawyer who used to defend Tyler Hamilton and Colin Montgomery in doping trials - days before finding out the B Sample result.
Still, the American continues to state his innocence, and told the media that he never used banned substances in his career. The 30-year old argued that the high level of testosterone in his body - almost twice as usual -grew by natural causes.
"I have never taken any banned substance, including testosterone. I was the strongest man in the Tour de France, and that is why I am the champion. I will fight these charges with the same determination and intensity that I bring to my training and racing. It is now my goal to clear my name and restore what I worked so hard to achieve", said Landis earlier today, after finding out the latest verdict in his case.
He was immediately sacked by his team and will now undergo procedures of giving up his Tour de France "yellow jersey". His former teammate, Oscar Perreiro, will become the first Spaniard to win the French competition since Miguel Indurain in 1995.
As for the next step in proving Landis' innocence, his new lawyer stated that: "In consultation with some of the leading medical and scientific experts, we will prove that Floyd Landis's victory in the 2006 Tour de France was not aided in any respect by the use of any banned substances".
