May would have Lana Del Rey become the face of a new wave of feminists because of the strong, independent nature and alluring stage presence, but she doesn't really want to get mixed up in all of that.

In a recent interview with Fader Magazine, the singer puts the issues at rest very bluntly, “For me, the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept,” she said adding that “I'm more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what's going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bing up feminism, I'm like, god. I'm just not really that interested.”

Sounds like our little Lana is a geek, which is why people should love her even more, because she doesn't conform to today's standards of our society which tries to pigeonhole everyone. But rest assured, Lana is not a tomboy, she's a real lady and to prove it, she gives her idea of what a feminist should be like.

“My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants,” says Lana and sadly, many feminists today fail to live up to that image. Of late, feminism has begun to be associated with frustrated people who only wait on the opportunity to pounce on others at the slightest hint of transgression that they feel is somehow gender-connected.

Lana is the latest celebrity to distance herself from the feminist issue that many others have rushed headlong into. It's still considered a delicate subject which is why the “Video Games” singer probably chooses to avoid it.

However, she may not be the best person to speak on the matter. For example, a fellow singer that has taken a significantly different career path, Lorde, has blasted Lana's previous album as being unfit for young girls because of the message it promotes.

In her songs, Lana sings about clinging on to her boyfriend and about desperation when he leaves. Lorde scoffs, “I listened to that Lana Del Rey record and the whole time I was just thinking it’s so unhealthy for young girls to be listening to, you know, ‘I’m nothing without you.’”

She concludes that “This sort of shirt-tugging, desperate, don’t leave me stuff. That’s not a good thing for young girls, even young people, to hear.” Lana hasn't yet addressed this issue.
