Lana Del Rey doesn't even have an album out, but she's already been invited to perform on Saturday Night Live. She did two songs last night, and the Twitterverse and the blogosphere went up in flames with harsh criticism of her gig.

Lana is an up and coming singer whose already gotten critics singing her praises for her vocal versatility and love of quirky sounds.

However, last night on SNL, audiences at home saw a young woman too nervous and awkward to stand straight on stage, whose performance was a technical and vocal “mess.”

Tweeps (Twitter users) were just as harsh in their appraisal of her performance, from celebrities to regular people weighing in to say she had no place to be there.

“Wow watching this 'singer' on SNL is like watching a 12 year old in their bedroom when they're pretending to sing and perform. #signofourtimes,” actress and rocker Juliette Lewis wrote.

“Who.....is.....this wack-a-doodle chick performing on #SNL..? Whaaaa?” Eliza Dushku also said.

Other voices online suggest that the SNL people knew Lana wasn't ready for this kind of performance, but they still put her on because they wanted higher ratings.
