Lana Del Rey has been the anti-pop icon ever since she first came out in the music industry, but right now she's on a path what public image she had to begin with, as well as making some of the most controversial statements in the press today. Put it this way: she's beginning to make Lady Gaga look like a catholic schoolgirl.

Recently, the singer has come out with a new album, “Ultraviolence,” in which there is a song with a very honest title, “I [explicit] My Way Up To The Top.” In an interview with Complex magazine, the singer admits that there's some truth in that song title.

“You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry,” she candidly confesses but then adds, “none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying.” That would indicate that Lana wouldn't have minded at all if her romps had resulted in albums or record deals.

It should be said that up until a few months ago, Lana was linked to Jock rocker Barrie-James O'Neill, and the two of them were even thought to have gotten secretly engaged after the singer was spotted with a ring on her finger. Now it looks as though the two have parted ways, at least for a while.

Despite her relatively short career, Lana is believed to have had relationships or flings with several big names in the industry, some of them quite famous people, the likes of Marilyn Manson, Asap Rocky and Axl Rose.

At the moment, it's unclear if Lana's outrageous comments are part of her promotion campaign, but it should be mentioned at this point that back in June, after her record had just come out, she gave another startling interview in which she confessed to be thinking about death all the time and even contemplated it from time to time.

Of course, this statement didn't go without some angry responses, one of which came from Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean, who knows a thing or two about depressed rockers, since her famous father committed suicide when she was young. She told Lana that she should stop promoting this romanced notion that it's cool for rockers to die young.

Lana's new album has managed to climb its way to the top of the Billboard Top 200, despite modest radio airplay of her recent hit song “West Coast,” presumably because of the nature of the lyrics that isn't to everyone's taste.
