SEGA has announced it has recruited the well known heavy metal band Lamb of God to create and perform an exclusive song for the upcoming Iron Man 2: The Videogame release.

The new track will be called “Hit the Wall” and will serve as the backdrop for the most significant scenes in the game slated to arrive at the same time as the movie it is based on. The Iron Man 2 videogame should be released on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the PSP, the Nintendo Wii and the DS line.

Sean Ratcliffe, who is the vice president in charge of marketing at SEGA of America, stated that “The music of Lamb of God definitely evokes the intensity of Iron Man action, and we are very excited to have them working with us for the game. This new track will add even more atmosphere to the cinematic gaming experience that Iron Man 2 brings to the table.”

Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe commented, “A few of us are real game and comic fans, so the partnership with SEGA has been really exciting. We can’t wait to play the game and hear our music as Iron Man [rocks].”

Iron Man 2: The Videogame will have a narrative arc put together by Matt Fraction, one of the Marvel Comics writers who have worked extensively on the franchise. The story will not be the same as that of the movie, although certain connections will be made. Both Iron Man himself and War Machine will be playable characters and Crimson Dynamo has been confirmed through a Comic Con trailer as being the main antagonist in the game.

The first Iron Man videogame, also released by SEGA, was pretty badly reviewed and did not generate a lot of sales. Thus, the publisher is aiming to deliver a more complete and polished experience with the sequel.
