14 DAY TRIAL // When Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian were still a couple, Robert Kardashian, Khloe’s brother, was so close to the NBA star that they called each other “brother.” They reconnected just recently, and Lamar is determined to help Rob out, now that he's hit rock bottom.
Khloe officially pulled the plug on her marriage before Christmas, after months of speculation that he had developed a serious drug addiction for which he refused to get help by going to rehab. Even before she filed the papers, they had been living apart, as Odom moved out of the house to be on his own.
It is about then, Radar Online estimates, that he broke contact with Rob too – and the separation pushed the latter into a deeper depression. Insiders say that, right now, Rob “has completely retreated from the family, and from his friends. But within the last few weeks, Rob has reconnected with Lamar.”
The first thing that Rob did when Lamar called him was to ask Khloe if she was ok with the idea of them hanging out again. Naturally, Khloe told him that, whatever happens between her and her estranged husband, she wants his brother to be happy, so he should be friends with whoever makes him feel this way.
Insiders claim that, these days, Rob is pretty much isolated from the family and at the root of the problem is Kim, who keeps telling him he’s nobody without them, and his mother Kris Jenner, who keeps pressuring and even threatening him to lose weight.
Rob is depressed and has even started to refuse going out of the house to avoid the paparazzi. Lamar hopes he can help him cope with depression but also solve his weight problems – but the insiders don’t say how he plans on doing that.
“It has come to the point that [Rob] just hates going out because of the constant cameras always around. Lamar is planning to come to LA in the next month, and they will definitely hang out then. If there is anyone that can help Rob it’s Lamar,” says one of the sources.
Earlier this year, when he was still struggling with his drug addiction (allegedly), Lamar got a helping hand from his former father-in-law, the tabloids claimed. Bruce Jenner reached out to him and offered to be his friend, as the entire Kardashian clan and some of the media seemed to have turned on him for the events that led up to the divorce.
It seems that Lamar is now returning the favor.
