Some voices online call it the reality show curse because everything seemed to be just peachy before Khloe Kardashian and her E! series came along, others say it’s all the direct result of bad decisions. The bottom line is that Lamar Odom’s NBA career isn’t going anywhere these days after he was dropped from the Knicks.

He is in complete shock that it happened, inside sources say for Hollywood Life. Knicks president Phil Jackson announced the decision this week, saying Odom wasn’t up to par to NBA standards / requirements, which, unless we know the real reason, could practically mean anything.

Now, Lamar knew that he’d been off his game for some time and he imagined he was at risk, so, some time ago, he decided to get back up in the saddle and do whatever in his power to prove that, even though not many still had hope in him, he could cut it as an NBA player.

Naturally, when he heard he’d been dropped, he was shocked because he didn’t expect this to happen.

“He’d been training for so long, getting healthy, sleeping right, eating right and grinding his [backside] off to get to the competitive level that the NBA requires,” the insider reveals.

“He really put his heart into it. But when he got word that he wasn’t up to par, his whole world dropped. He’s at rock bottom,” the spy continues. “This is truly not the way Lamar wanted to go out. Not at all. Not that he gives a [expletive] about what people think about him, but he doesn’t want his [alleged] addiction and his failed marriage to overshadow what he’s accomplished as a professional athlete in the NBA.”

Lamar is furious that, instead of remembering all that, people will for ever focus on his marriage to Khloe, their reality show, a spinoff on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, his appearances on KUWTK, the many rumors surrounding his addiction to crack cocaine, his cheating on Khloe, the scandal.

He was a “mini-legend” (that’s the word used by the tipster, it’s not our description of Lamar) and, instead of having people remember and celebrate him for that, they will be laughing about his reality TV career and all the drug drama for years from now on.

Chances are, at least in theory, that he could still make things right because, even though he’s a free agent, he could still be picked up by another team. However, given his reputation in the tabloids and the negative media coverage, this begs the question: who would want him?
