Riley Gunn, of Merlin, Oregon thought his luck ran out when he was laid off from his job. The man from Oregon then bought a lottery ticket that would change his life and that of his family.

He entered the Mega Millions sweepstakes at the beginning of the year. The ticket turned out to be a winner, and made the Gunn family a whopping $1 million (€750,000).

The Wolfcreek couple bought it at the market, in Merlin, KOBI reports, although they only  intended to buy corndogs for their children.

Last year, Riley and wife Misty both lost their jobs, but now they plan to buy a house in California.

"It's going to make the difference in our lives to have the opportunities to do things we've always wanted," he told KTVL.
