As much as Lady Gaga promoted her latest album “ARTPOP,” including at the AMAs 2013 with what was regarded as a scandalous performance and on SNL (and countless other appearances / interviews), she didn’t succeed in keeping it at number 1 for more than a week.

The numbers are not disastrous per se, but they’re pretty underwhelming if compared to Gaga’s previous releases.

“The album drops from No. 1 to No. 8 this week, a big disappointment given that Gaga's previous album, Born This Way, spent its first two weeks at No. 1. After two weeks, ARTPOP has sold 305K copies; after two weeks, Born This Way had sold 1,285,000 copies (including 845K at full price),” Yahoo! Music reports.

Celebrity pundits have been saying for some time now that Gaga’s shtick could be getting old for the simple reason that she’s simply doing too much of everything all the time. Gaga oversaturation could probably explain the drop in interest in her album.

“Gaga's album sales dropped by 82 percent this week. Only three No. 1 albums in the Nielsen SoundScan era have experienced such steep drops in their second week. (Madonna's MDNA dropped by 87 percent in its second week; Gaga's Born This Way dropped by 84 percent; Mac Miller's Blue Slide Park dropped by 83 percent.),” the same media outlet underlines.
